BUILD & BREAK CREW
OUR MISSION
We are looking for professionals to join our hard working team to help us deliver our award-winning, innovative woman’s (and those that squat to pee) urinals at some of the most exciting festivals and events across the UK this summer.
This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic people to join our kickass team. This position is perfectly suited to individuals who are looking for hands-on, on-site experience at UK events and festivals. You’ll be someone who isn’t afraid of getting stuck in and enjoys working as part of a dynamic and energetic team to pioneer gender equality at festivals and events.
If you are practical with a positive mindset, are interested in supporting pee equality and have availability over the summer, please keep reading…
THE ROLE
- Building the PEEQUAL ‘wedges’ (toilets) positioning the bases and assembly of the walls – it’s like big colourful (recycled) plastic flatpack furniture
- This is a very manual, hands on role and can be dirty too
- The units are emptied before needing jet washing and transportation so they will still be a bit dirty – dressing appropriately is important and PPE is provided where needed
- Support with loading and unloading the articulated lorry with assistance from telehandler (how the ‘wedges’ travel)
- As the saying goes sh*t happens and occasionally they will need cleaning up before break (this will only happen if the cleaners and event lead are otherwise disposed of)
- Hands-on experience in construction, festivals or general manual labour is desired but not essential although you must be keen to learn and work hard
- Plant licences such as telehandler, picker, forklift are desirable, but not essential (higher fee offered for this)
- Shifts are generally 8-10 hours per day and half days 4-5 hours
- Possibly driving the PEEQUAL truck and trailer (training provided)
- We try our hardest to share transport and keep onsite vehicles to a minimum, so if you’re up for it, you might be requested to pick up and drop off crew between events (with additional financial perks)
- Throughout the build and break you’ll be expected to stay on site in either crew camping or your own live in vehicle (if this isn’t a option at the specific event PEEQUAL will provide accommodation for you)
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- You will be willing and able to perform manual labour tasks throughout the duration of your shift(s)
- You will be a good communicator with a positive outlook who enjoys being in a team
- You will have the ability to respond well to instruction whilst also showing great problem solving skills and independent thought
- You have a positive, proactive attitude
- Ability to problem solve
- Resilient at working in all weather conditions
- Not be fased by the presence and disposal of poo
- Reliable and trustworthy
- It is essential that you are flexible with location and availability
PERKS
- A full days training so you’re confident in attending and working your first event with us
- An open door policy to raise concerns over anything we do and how we do it
- A welcoming, enthusiastic and knowledgeable management team
- Being a part of our mission to pioneer pee-equality
- PPE for the messier jobs
- On site accommodation (majority crew camping)
- Crew catering (or other appropriate food provision)
- Guaranteed (and agreed) hours of work – although a bit of flexibility is required
- £13-15 per hour depending on experience (Plant Licence fee higher)
- Travel expenses (up to £20 each way)
This role will not be on site during the festival/event unless otherwise stated. You could however do this in conjunction with our Cleaner Role(which is onsite during the festival/event) – let us know in the application form whether you would be interested in multiple roles.
